WHY AMSA?
AMSA is the only national, independent, student-led association dedicated to physicians-in-training. When you join AMSA, you become part of a vital force of future physicians who believe that patients and health professionals are partners in the management of health care and that access to high-quality health care is a right, not a privilege.

With more than 33,000 members, AMSA is made up of a diverse cross section of the medical student population.

AMSA AT ACPHS
AMSA ACPHS offers students what many premedical schools don't provide: the vital skills needed to lead and listen; and a safe place to explore, reflect and become the kind of physician who thinks beyond drugs and diagnoses.

...the kind of physician who makes a difference.
...the kind of physician you want to become.
HOW WE DO IT
Think of AMSA as an incubator for your career. A way to find YOUR medical niche; meet like-minded peers and physicians; and learn how to lead and advocate. We make this happen through three common core offerings: Advocacy, Education and Networking.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU
Ready? Let’s go. Take that issue that keeps you up at night and convert it into action. You’ll hit the ground running through one of our Advocacy Campaigns-–paving the way for great things once you’re in medical school. Take Dr. Leana Wen, for example, a former AMSA activist who is now the president of Planned Parenthood.

Tap into our mighty network of peer, experts and physicians poised to help you navigate the field of medicine. If you’ve got a particular interest, we likely have a program, event or networking opportunity for you to explore and drill deeper.
Let’s be honest – premed school years are likely some of the toughest you’ve ever experienced. AMSA exists to support you on this journey; to remind you that self-care is essential; to help you synthesize the news, trends and ever-changing landscape of medicine. Many think of us as a family – a diverse, impassioned network that supports one another in meaningful ways.
Some experts call them “soft skills,” but at AMSA, we look at personal and professional development as some of the most powerful tools you’ll own as a physician. Flex your leadership muscles by serving as a leader on campus, or even nationally. Learn the skills that premedical medical schools often don’t offer: how to listen, how to communicate, how to present your professional brand and more.
OUR GOALS
As a premedical chapter, our main goal at AMSA ACPHS is to guide our members through the difficult years of their journey as a premed student. We aim to educate, inspire and foster a community of premed students, while providing the knowledge and support needed to enter medical school. Through our social, volunteering, advocacy and clinical workshop events, members not only build up their resumes, but learn some of the most valuable skills needed to become a well-rounded physician.
